The following are some of the comments users have made about my Shareware products over the years:
“Re: SndConverterPro 2.0b9: A sophisticated yet simple to use application to convert sounds hidden in any file to a popular sound format. Excellent for discovering potential system 7 beep sounds, or converting sounds into SoundEdit format for manipulation. For people who enjoy sounds on their Macintosh, this is an essential utility.”
— Nick Warburton, New Zealand
“Thank you for writing SndConverter 1.1. It was exactly what I was looking for; a fine, fast elegant application that I use suprisingly often.”
“I am excited by Sound Player because … [it] plays a queue of sounds from a suitcase in the background. I can get sounds to play simultaneously, and in a controlled or "composed" fashion, extending the performance capabilities of my Mac in an important way. … I love being able to change volume levels while a sound or suitcase is playing, especially with the command keys. Good idea! The sample rate and sound number options are also very good.”
— Francis Martin, USA
“Excellent software, from ease of use to ease of payment! If only more shareware authors took credit cards... all the best -- live long and prosper!”
— Steve Thomas, England
“… Your utility is (honestly!) one of the greatest I've seen in a long time.”
— Stian F. Oksavik
“I'm not a power-user. Don't do many fancy things. But I download lots of junk from all over and most of it turns out to be marginally useful, or way over my head and not interesting enough to make me learn anything. Your SndConverter Pro is staggeringly useful, fantastically easy to use, and generally just a big hoot for me. Can't deny that I love watching that morph going on and on and on and on...... I happily send the registration fee and would love to have everything you've got. Keep up the good work; shareware is not only the greatest possible application of the growing computer world network to date, it is also a very rewarding and sensible human experience in an increasingly cold and selfish world. Ok, so it doesn't beat De Klerk and Mandela, but it's a feel good thing nonetheless.”
— Jeff Consiglio, MD, USA
“Nice little package and emminently useful and convenient. Thanks!”
“Perhaps the reason for your small Mac is that you are charging too little...your program merits a Quadra.”
— Peter Skorpil, Hong Kong
“I basically am a sound freak. I collect and make my own sounds. The best thing about SndConverter Pro is that I can extract snds from almost anywhere easily! Even out of my most favourite games!”
— Court Nickel, USA
“A very nice job over-all. … Congratulations on handling stereo sounds; SoundManager mangles them.”
— flasheridn on AOL
“SndPlayer is an excellent application for listening to sounds in a variety of popular formats in a single session. It provides a convenient and informative interface for repeating sounds or moving between sounds quickly. SndPlayer also plays sounds asynchronously allowing other tasks to continue on the Macintosh. … It is certainly more convenient than double-clicking on System 7 sounds.”
— Nick Warburton, New Zealand
“I just used SndConverter Pro for a while today after DL'ng it recently from
AOL. Pretty slick work. Here’s my dough! Keep it up.”
“SndConverter Lite —> great stuff. Wonderfully simple.”
— Andreas F. Schueller, OH, USA
“SndConverter Pro is very user friendly, and seems to get along well with the environment on my two Mac’s….”
— Wm. R. Himebaugh, USA
“This is a bloody useful program!”
— Mark Barthel, United Kingdom
“I downloaded version 1.1 of SndConverter from America Online. … I am very pleased with its operation. I know of no other utility that converts sounds recorded at 22Hz to 11Hz. I didn't want to buy something that would probably cost a couple hundred dollars. The sound extracting feature is also very handy! I was able to pull some of the sounds out from the games I have.”
— Stuart Goldman, USA
“I like the interface to SndConverter and especially like the down-sampling feature with the Before and After buttons.”
— Bob Andrews, USA
“Here's my registration money -- paying for Shareware is well worthwhile: it is very satisfying to know that (a) you are doing the Right Thing, and (b) you are helping (indirectly) to improve the product at the same time. I often try to help directly, by sending a list of suggestions for new features / bug reports when I register. It's a good way to make friends, too.”
— Ian Maxwell, England
“SndConverter is especially valuable to System 7 users, allowing them to convert older sound formats and SoundMaster sounds to the new system format without any fuss.”
— Francis Martin, USA
“Very useful, and well done utility.”
— Sean Li, Hong Kong
“Not really a heavy user of sounds. Just using the ConverterLite to convert snd files to older sound files for use in Soundmaster and a slide show program I have that does not support snd files. I appreciate your work, it was just the program I needed when I couldn't find the right sound file but found a great snd file. Thanks.”
— Bruce Motogawa, USA
“Easy to use, straightforward interface and documentation you can understand! Keep up the good work.”
— Mark A. Barthel, United Kingdom
“Simple to use & nicely documented.”
— Charles H. Breitsprecker, USA
“I have downloaded Snd Converter Lite from GEnie. It is a very useful little program.”
— Murray Mosher, Canada
“Very useful and cool software! Thanks!”
— Adam Turetzky, USA
“SndConverter Lite will suit the needs of many Macintosh users that want a quick and simple way to convert sounds hidden in any file to a popular sound format. The less technically minded will enjoy this 'Lite' version for it's simplicity of operation. It does convert from and to all the sound formats of the 'Pro' version, but the Pro version allows many aspects of it's operation to be configured to suit your personal taste. So use Lite, and if you find yourself saying "I wish I could configure it to do this ..." then consider upgrading to SndConverter Pro.”
“SndCataloguer: a must for anyone who uses or stores large quantities of sounds on their Macintosh. It is also especially useful for cataloging sounds hidden in various applications or hypercard stacks. A great time saver!”
— Nick Warburton, New Zealand
“Easy to use and great value for money.”
— Steve Thomas, England
“Thanks for the faith in humanity you show by authoring and distributing excellent shareware.”
